Reporting to the Managing Director of Kansas City Corporate Banking, the Corporate Banking Portfolio Manager (Business Banker I) is responsible for effectively managing a growing and dynamic portfolio of middle market, enterprise value based senior credit facilities that finance business acquisitions and combinations sponsored by private equity, family office and other private investors.  This role will be a primary point of client contact, responsible for evaluating and managing portfolio credit quality and will work directly with the Managing Director in evaluating, structuring and closing new business and pro-actively engaging internal business partners to identify, solicit and close cross-selling opportunities.


  • Two plus years of middle market commercial bank underwriting or portfolio management experience with leveraged lending experience preferred.
  • Accounting background with a basic understanding of purchase accounting and demonstrated skill in quantitative financial modelling and excel.
  • Working knowledge of complex legal structures and typical inter-creditor issues.
  • Strong financial acumen and problem solving skills including the ability to make critical decisions supported by substantive analysis.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, good communicator, demonstrates the ability to develop personal relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Results oriented, excels in high-pressure situations.
  • Familiar with broader set of commercial banking products and services including treasury, international and interest rate derivatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, business or economics.
