    OMNI is honored to be retained by United Way of Greater Kansas City in their search for an Individual Gifts Officer. This role will focus on growing the giving and engagement of high net worth individuals through United Way’s major gifts pipeline. The incumbent will offer a passion for the mission which is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of Greater Kansas City.

    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Individual Giving, the Individual Gifts Officer is responsible for growing revenue by moving current annual donors to major multi-year and deferred givers through outreach, solicitation and stewardship. Key accountabilities include:  

    • Develop, cultivate and manage a portfolio of current and prospective Tocqueville Society and Legacy Giving donors.
    • Identify, cultivate and solicit annual, major, endowed and planned gifts for UWGKC ($10K+ annual and major, $100,000K+ endowed, $50k+ planned). 
    • Co-lead, with the Senior Vice President of Individual Giving the United Way of Greater Kansas City’s (UWGKC) Tocqueville Society ($10,000+) strategies and activities to grow giving and engagement of individuals.
    • Develop an annual work plan and strategies that contribute to the acquisition and retention of annual, major, planned and endowment gifts.     
    • Provide exceptional donor stewardship, conduct face to face visits with donors and prospective donors, and lead the development and strategy related to discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship - including crafting ways for donors to experience deeper engagement in UWGKC’s mission.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated history of soliciting and securing major gifts ($10,000+) is preferred and should include success strategizing on donor engagement and experience with direct ask and face to face engagement with prospects and donors.
    • Excellent understanding of fundraising principles and proven experience in planning, organization, and execution of development goals.
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong reputation for integrity and professionalism, demonstrated intellectual curiosity, ability to resolve conflict constructively, strong performance management and evaluation capabilities including the willingness and ability to ensure accountability, to build strong relationships both inside and outside UWGKC, to think strategically, and to foster an inclusive environment consistent with UWGKC’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
    • Must have the ability to prepare, explain, and monitor performance, manage a diverse group of donors and volunteers, manage projects and workload, and engage constructively with the other members of the UWGKC team.
    • Be an active listener – seek  to understand the spoken and unspoken needs of others, both colleagues as well as donors and prospects; includes and engages others; is an effective facilitator between the organization and the donor; knows when to bring others into donor conversations and decisions.
    • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed leadership style.
