    Friend Family Health Center has an opportunity for a highly motivated and talented Dentist to join their expanding team. They are looking for a Dentist interested in working closely with patients, care teams and community partners to provide comprehensive and compassionate oral health care to the Chicago community. Hours include part-time at their Western location and full time as they expand dental services in 2019. Today, Friend Family Health Center provides comprehensive primary and behavioral health care services to over 40,000 patients annually through 7 care sites with additional expansion in 2018.     Responsibilities

    • Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment using approved state clinical protocols and
    • Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. In addition, the Dentist shall complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or paper works as shall be required from time to time as required by clinical protocol.
    • Educates individuals oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.
    • Serves on the dental staff and other FFHC clinical committees as assigned.
    • Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as
    • Provides consultation to the Medical Director, CEO and the Board of Directors regarding dental and oral health issues as requested.
    • Attends meetings as necessary to represent FFHC and/or the Dental
    • Assists in the coordination and integration of the FFHC’s dental programs and services with other corporate programs and services for the welfare of the FFHC’s
    • Provides a full range of general dental services within the dentist’s defined scope of training
    • Follows established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental and/or infection control standards
    • Maintains necessary credentialing, licensure and continuing education requirements
    • Participates in recruitment/retention activities of FFHC as directed by the Dental Director, performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals.
    • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings.
    • Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern dentistry as related to public health organizations and community health programs as well as current social and economic problems pertaining to public health and their impact on primary health care.
    • Ability to work creatively with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal productivity and programmatic effectiveness while continuously promoting the growth and development of fellow professionals, exercising appropriate supervisory control and displaying good work judgment.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with fellow healthcare providers and FFHC clinical staff.
    • Prolonged sitting or standing may be required. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility normally associated with the practice of primary care dentistry will be performed on a repetitive basis.
    • Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills
    • Must be able to clearly communicate with others to understand them, and to be understood.

    Qualifications

     

     

    • Graduation from an accredited dental school
    • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Illinois
    • Current CPR (BLS) certifications. ACLS preferred
    • Illinois DPS and DEA registrations
    • Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred
    • Bilingual, clinically fluent in Spanish preferred
    • Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required
    • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges required, hospital privileges preferred
    • FTCA coverage or private professional malpractice insurance obtainable
    • Medicaid licensure preferred
