OMNI is honored to be retained by Sunflower House in their search for their next President/CEO. This outstanding opportunity is available due to the pending retirement of the highly respected incumbent. This role will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the organization’s staff, programs, growth, and execution of its mission. 


Since 1977, Sunflower House has served as a non-residential children’s advocacy and abuse prevention center for Johnson and Wyandotte Counties. Their mission is to protect children in our community from physical and sexual abuse through education, advocacy, forensic, medical, and therapeutic services.


This position reports directly to a highly respected and committed Board of Directors. The President/CEO key accountabilities include:

  • Provide leadership and direction for all strategic and operational planning, programs, and fund development initiatives to support the continued growth of the organization.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility, including accurate reporting, compliance, budget management, and the cultivation and stewardship of a diverse blend of federal, state, local, and private funds.
  • Maintain ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, policies, communications, operations, and systems.
  • Oversee the implementation of staff training and development to maintain an environment that fosters and retains top talent, including staff and volunteers.
  • Serve as spokesperson for the organization; actively engage and energize the staff, volunteers, board members, event committees, funders, stakeholders, and community groups around the organization’s mission.


  • Demonstrated success in a leadership role within an organization of comparable size, scope, and complexity. Both non-profit and corporate executives will be considered.  Experience with child advocacy, social services, board service or nonprofit management preferred.
  • A strong passion for the mission of children’s advocacy and abuse prevention is required.
  • Proven fiscal management experience to achieve strategic organizational and programmatic goals.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performance teams and to work closely with a Board of Directors.
  • Strong relationship management skills required. Fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders highly preferred.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, creativity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed leadership style.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
