OMNI has been engaged by Great Western Manufacturing to provide support in their search for an Engineering Manager. This privately owned and operated organization is the oldest operating manufacturing firm in the state of Kansas. Founded in 1858, Great Western is the premier manufacturer of commercial equipment for dry sifting application in food processing and custom industrial applications.  The Engineering Manager is responsible for Production Engineering and New Product Development, and is a leadership position that will play an important role in shaping the future direction of the organization.


  • Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve designs for manufacturing and assembly, and develop test procedures.
  • Provides direct management and supervision of a team of engineers and engineering technicians in their work to develop, design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems.
  • Works closely with the senior management team, including the production and sales/marketing staff, on the development and evaluation of new and existing products. This includes managing research and development proposals and serving as project manager.
  • Tracks and analyzes industry trends, new technology, relevant legislation, competitor activities, and market demand. Develops recommendations accordingly.
  • Builds relationships and develops collaborations with academia, government and corporations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A strong project management background and experience with a formal product development process (such as DFMA or 3P) is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with SolidWorks, programming languages, post processing programs such as MasterCAM, as well as Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated success in a senior leadership position overseeing staff, budget, strategy and consistent attainment of goals.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to understand data and apply it for problem solving.
