OMNI HRM is honored to partner with Friend Health in their search for a Director of Behavioral Health to be based in Chicago, IL. Friend Health’s trusted healthcare professionals offer adult medicine, women’s health, children’s health, behavioral and mental health (including psychiatry), substance use disorder, and dental services to their patients.


The Director of Behavioral Health Services has overall responsibility for the management and oversight of administering Friend Health’s behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services. This role also includes responsibility for outpatient services, community education, crisis and intervention, and community alcohol and drug programs.  This includes providing therapy or counseling to individuals, groups, couples, or families.


  • Plan, organize, manage, and review all facets of the mental health and substance abuse programs and services.
  • Maintain a partial caseload, providing direct clinical services to patients for a minimum of 5 sessions per week.
  • Lead Behavioral Health Consultants to ensure goals and targets are met.
  • Develop, implement, and review policies, procedures, and methods used in Behavioral Health programs for consistency with service goals and compliance standards.
  • Develop new strategies, services and programs based on community needs.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight in the implementation of adult and children behavioral health services.
  • Assure programs operate based on sound administrative, fiscal, and quality management principles
  • Represent Friend Health during specific community outreach efforts.
  • Develop programmatic and administrative aspects of contracts, participate in negotiation of contracts, monitor contract compliance, determine standards of service and treatment and serve as program resource on contract-related matters.
  • Perform a variety of tasks in collaborations with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other professional staff.
  • Lead and work with management on the integration of physical and mental health services to achieve departmental goals.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of referral resources throughout the service area.


  • Master’s Degree in clinical psychology, social work, or counseling.
  • Actively licensed and certified in the State of Illinois to practice clinical social work (LCSW, LCPC, Clinical Psychologist).
  • 5+ years of licensed or certified professional experience in a multi-disciplinary mental health and/or substance abuse program.
  • Clinical psychosocial diagnosis experience involving direct patient care along with consultation, evaluation, and research.
  • Experience working with underserved, diverse and transient populations.
  • Experience working with patients who have occurring mental health, substance abuse, and social & physical health challenges.
