OMNI has been retained by FosterAdopt Connect in the search and selection for a Vice President, Development.  This position will build new business development strategies, create and implement plans to improve donor retention, increase donor engagement, and broaden our base of community support.

 

Based in Independence, Missouri, FosterAdopt Connect works with children, youth, and families as they navigate the complexities of the child welfare system. Their mission is to provide foster and adoptive children a stable, loving and nurturing family environment by support and advocacy for abused and neglected children and the families caring for them.   

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this role will be responsible for:

  • Building on existing fundraising strategies including special events, direct mail, internet, email, and mid-level giving.
  • Creating new fundraising strategies including capital campaigns, high-level corporate giving, workplace giving, planned giving, and high net worth individual giving.
  • Assisting in the development and management of department budget and ensure compliance.
  • Conducting market analysis to identify challenges and opportunities for income growth.
  • Providing leadership of the development team across branch offices.
  • Ensuring all initial and annual training requirements are met for all direct reports and identify training/professional development opportunities accordingly.
  • Attending and participating in internal and external meetings, conferences, and trainings as scheduled; actively participate in all leadership meetings.
  • Maintaining contact and relationship building with other partner agencies and community stakeholders.
  • Implementing and leading a continuous quality improvement process in all areas of income related to purview, focusing on evaluation, implementation of development strategies, and personnel growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years of experience working in non-profit fundraising. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent relationship building skills with donors and community members.
  • Demonstrated success in leading major fundraising initiatives or comparable activities
  • Strong public presentation skills in one-on-one, small and large group settings
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, Donor Perfect preferred.
  • Proven experience as a VP of Donor Relations or other senior role.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families.
