OMNI is honored to be retained by Genuen in their search for an Engineering Manager,  Government Systems Group to work as a full-time exempt member of the Electronics Systems Engineering team overseeing all aspects of Genuen’s systems development engineers. Genuen is a premier provider of test automation services, test systems and product solutions for global companies in these highly regulated industries. This position is based in Albuquerque, NM.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, Electronics Systems, the Engineering Manager, Government Systems Group is responsible for direct management and supervision of a team of systems and electrical development engineers, including resource planning, mentoring and executing strategic systems initiatives as determined by the company’s leadership team.  In a technical capacity, this position is responsible for working with the project team to define system requirements that enable mission function and performance; developing system conceptual designs to meet those requirements; and defining the necessary subsystems, components, and interfaces to realize the system that meets the customer’s needs. Reponsibilities include:

  • Direct oversight and management of both systems and electrical engineers.
  • Participate in the creation and execution of the company’s overall project development process, best practices, and quality control.
  • Mentor new team members through training required for team role.
  • Coordinate engineering resource planning across the team.
  • Participate in identifying and defining strategic training opportunities for engineering team.
  • Lead weekly team meetings to review work products, provide design feedback and help to mitigate technical challenges.
  • Work as Project Lead on projects – the primary technical contact for the client as well as the leader of a multidiscipline project team.
  • Prepare and install test solutions in accordance with project specifications and standards.
  • Engage in Client project initiatives that involve the development and delivery of turn-key hardware and software deliverables.
  • Complete tasks within originally estimated time frames or communicates revised timelines to complete projects.
  • Provide advice on project costs, design concepts and design changes.
  • Ensure projects use appropriate hardware/software/system architectures.
  • Prepare deliverables such as planning documents, requirements documents, design documents, review documents, test strategy, test scripts, and reports.
  • Ensure that appropriate metrics and performance goals are in place to measure progress.
  • Manage Team Utilization to optimize efficiency. Sets individual utilization goals for each member of the team.
  • Identify IP created for projects that is suitable for company reuse libraries and/or future product development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage personnel.
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • 5+ years leading projects and architecting systems. Prior experience cultivating and growing key relationships.
  • Prior experience cultivating and leading others to grow with respect to their technical abilities.
  • Successful history of owning and executing task responsibility.
  • Excellent technical communication skills.
  • Occasional travel.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The ability and willingness to obtain a government security clearance is required.
