We’re seeking a Director of Health Policy to develop and activate health policy goals that advance the Foundation’s mission and vision. This role involves collaboration with executive leadership, program staff, and Board members to implement policy and advocacy strategies, increase engagement in health equity, and support community investment priorities.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Health Policy will:

  • Identify and articulate health policy priorities.
  • Monitor local and state health care trends for both Kansas and Missouri.
  • Craft position statements and strategize advocacy activities.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with grantee advocacy partners, officials, community allies, and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as a valued partner and collaborator to facilitate shared projects.
  • Manage education, advocacy, and lobbying activities.
  • Represent the Foundation on policy-related coalitions and initiatives.
  • Maintain reporting systems for policy projects.
  • Develop and manage budgets and communications related to policy projects.
  • Establish priorities and benchmarks for policy activities.
  • Create regular reports for executive and Board review.
  • Cultivate relationships and align efforts with REACH policy priorities.
  • Maintain a database of legislative officials and prepare testimony and legislative communications.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in health policy, political science, or public policy preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in communications and policy or public/government affairs, preferably in nonprofit or healthcare settings.
  • Experience with public health issues and public policy communications.
  • Superior oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex material into audience-appropriate content.
  • Passion for addressing health disparities and inspiring others.
