Presently, they seek a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join their world of portable, high-precision, large-scale, 3-dimensional measurement, and alignment solutions.

 

Reporting to the Production Planning Manager, the Buyer will take the lead on sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and equipment that power manufacturing operations. The incumbent will play a key role in ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and on-time delivery of goods – while building strong supplier partnerships and continuously improving the procurement process.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure raw materials, components, and supplies to support production needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and suppliers, fostering strong relationships.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance based on cost, quality, lead time, and delivery reliability.
  • Collaborate with management and production teams to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Align purchasing activities with company strategies by maintaining ERP system parameters and driving purchasing decisions.
  • Conduct market research to assess supplier capabilities, track cost trends, and stay informed on industry developments.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and assess the impact of supplier pricing changes.
  • Ensure all purchased materials meet quality standards and comply with applicable regulations.
  • Proactively manage supply chain disruptions and mitigate risks to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Identify and address key supplier risks, including the development of alternative sourcing strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related role required.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to drive favorable outcomes.
  • Solid analytical skills to assess data, suppliers, and market trends.
  • Experience using ERP systems (EPICOR preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
