OMNI is honored to have been retained by their confidential client in their search for a Controller to lead the financial strategy and operations of the firm. The Controller will play a critical role in driving financial performance through data-informed decision-making, strategic reporting, and forward-looking financial analysis.

 

This dynamic and rapidly growing financial services firm is headquartered in Dallas, TX but with additional offices across the United States.

Responsibilities

The Controller will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and serve as a key business partner to firm leadership. This role is responsible for the integrity of all accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities, and will be instrumental in shaping financial strategy, optimizing operational efficiency, and supporting the partnership’s unique compensation and billing structure.

 

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Controller will serve as a strategic partner to firm leadership, managing the accounting function and financial reporting infrastructure while leveraging data analytics to inform business strategy.

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, client billing, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, month-end and year-end close, and financial audits.
  • Ensure accurate and timely client invoicing, tracking of professional billings, and calculation/distribution of professional compensation based on billings.
  • Lead preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports to partners and executive leadership, highlighting key trends, risks, and business opportunities.
  • Manage the firm’s annual budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning processes, including cash flow projections and long-range financial plans.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, multi-state, and local tax and regulatory requirements (including partnership tax filings, sales/use tax, and annual reports across approximately 15 states).
  • Serve as primary liaison to external auditors, CPA firm, banking partners, benefits providers, and 401(k) administrators.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting and billing staff, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and process improvements to enhance automation, reporting accuracy, scalability, and internal controls.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with firm policies.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support strategic initiatives, partner and professional compensation planning, and business development efforts.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the firm and individual professionals.
  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives and projects as a member of the leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role, ideally within a partnership, professional services, consulting, or law firm environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project accounting, revenue recognition, and compensation models tied to billings.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state tax and regulatory compliance for partnerships.
  • Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting and financial systems (Sage Intacct experience a plus); strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-driven, and collaborative environment.
  • Experience managing change and driving process improvements.

Benefits Offered:                                                                            

The Controller position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $180,000 to $210,000, along with a performance-based bonus. The firm provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance to support employee well-being.
