OMNI is honored to partner with Genuen in the search for a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer on the Mechanical Systems Engineering team contributing to leading the development of innovative testing solutions. This is a full-time, direct hire position. Genuen is a premier provider of test automation services, test systems and product solutions for global companies in highly regulated industries with an emphasis in military/aerospace, transportation, and commercial avionics. Genuen is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company based in Lenexa, KS with offices in Albuquerque, NM and Saginaw, MI.  This position is on-site in Saginaw, MI.

Responsibilities

The Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the hardware design and development of products, systems, tests, and automated test equipment through field installation as an engineer and as a project team leader. The following are essential functions and related tasks:

  • Project Lead and primary technical contact for the client, and leader of a multi-discipline project team.
  • Develop high-level mechanical system solutions based in accordance with project specifications and standards.
  • Create and finalize detailed 3D models and 2D production drawings.
  • Conduct rigorous cost estimation and value engineering to optimize project margins.
  • Support the manufacturing, assembly, and validation phases of system builds.
  • Complete tasks within initial estimated time frames or communicate revised timelines to complete projects with required justifications.
  • Prepare deliverables such as design documents, schematics, and review documents.
  • Ensure all designs observe relevant safety objectives, legal requirements, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Perform advanced technical calculations (stress, strain, thermal, fluid dynamics, etc.) to validate design integrity.
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of customized products at Genuen or onsite at customer facilities.
  • Provide expert-level technical support and system modifications based on evolving customer needs.
  • aOther duties and responsibilities as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
  • 15+ years of mechanical design engineering experience, preferably within test stand development or custom automation.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of automation and industrial design, sizing/specification of motors, gearboxes, and mechanical drive systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fluid power systems.
  • Extensive proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience cultivating and growing key relationships, both internal and external.
  • Successful history of owning and executing task responsibility.
  • Excellent technical communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Occasional travel, as needed.
  • United States citizenship is required.
